Hobbs Brockunier Cranberry Opal Swirl Celery Vase #325-Victorian Wheeling Glass

  
In late 1880's the Hobbs Brockunier Co re-organized and subsequently designed two new patterns, one opal swirl; Nicholas Kopp most likely the creator. Produced in the usual utilitarian wares such as water sets, table sets, berry sets and assorted other accessories for everyday use. The company designated this line as pattern #325, produced in the usual colors of primarily cranberry, blue and white with parallel white swirling lines originating on the bottom and culminating at the top rim. One shape common with many victorian glass lines was a vase to hold celery. This example has distinct opalescent lines incorporated into a medium cranberry colored glass. The vase stands just under 6 1/2" tall and 3 5/8" across the top. Thorough examination reveals no damage or repairs, basically very clean on the inside with only slight residue on the very bottom which is basically concealed by the opalescent pattern.

I did include a picture of a single enclosed bubble down about an inch from the top rim which is common for this type of early American opalescent glass. A nice example to fill out your Hobbs swirl line. Please view all pictures is air considered part of the description.
