Recent Raleigh, North Carolina estate find. An extremely rare, late 1800's (1880 to 1890) Central Glass works amber hobnail petite oil lamp.
As expected, rough ground base with applied 3 part mold round reservoir. The reservoir and base were molded separately and attached. With mold line on the reservoir and base not matching up, obvious that this piece was not molded in a single cast as seen with reproductions. Also, a mber color on the base is slightly darker than the reservoir color. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or stains. As mentioned, the base is rough ground and does show tiny chip inclusions primarily on the inside edge of the bottom; however, this was part of the creation process and is not considered damage unless the chips are excessive, which these are not. Displays incredibly well and guaranteed to be o riginal and authentic.Brass collar may not be original or may have been re-applied as the cement doesn't seem to be aged from use, but the collar still looks to be period.
