Barovier Cordonato d'Oro Murano Vertical 12Rib Opalescent Vase 9H x 7W A Gem

  
This is an unusually symmetric example of Barovier's vertical cordonato d'oro technique (I've seen several spellings of this technique) with medium sized elliptical gold bubbles sunk into gold tiny fleck aventurine, with the ropes sunken into a base of pale blue opalescent glass. Looks like pearlescent glass until it is lit up, then the pale blue comes out. The 12 gold'ropes' are vertical and rise to a semi-scalloped rim around the mouth. There is also gold flecks present between the ropes. This vase is an amazing display in the sunlight glowing and sparkling. It is masterfully shaped with a superb sense of balance and precision. This is a subtle vase unlike many others he created in this technique. There is no damage or other issues. Some movement markings on the bottom. Has a typical 1/2 dollar sized pontil mark exactly. Centered on the otherwise flat polished flower-shaped bottom. Shape of the bottom is caused by the ribs running into the pontil mark then they were polished. Not signed though the technique is very recognizable.

Plenty of examples of this technique online. Measures about 9"h x 7"w at the mouth. A rare jewel in this opalescent, almost pearlescent glass, since most are made in crystal clear glass.
